This coming Saturday 18 girls from Diane’s School of Dance will board a bus and head off to New York City for a once in a lifetime experience – dancing in the 87th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The girls will be performing with the Spirit of America Dancers which is made up of elite dancers from across the country.
The girls are extremely excited to be 18 of the 8,000 participants to march and perform in the Nation’s most beloved parade. In addition to marching in the parade the Spirit of America Dancers will be featured on the live television broadcast of the parade on NBC. The dancers will also be on the Today Show on Tuesday, Nov 26.
During the last week of October the girls received a portion of the choreography and have been working hard to perfect the dance. The real work starts when they arrive in NYC on Saturday where they will spend several hour each day learning the remaining choreography.
The 18 girls from Miss Diane’s School of Dance found out they would be part of the Spirit of American Dancers in the spring of 2013 and have organized several fundraisers to help cover the $2,000 per girl cost. The girls have two fundraisers running until they leave. One is an online Go Fund Me drive asking for donations and the other is a DQ fundraiser scheduled for Wed November 20 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. – DQ on route 140 Milford will donate a certain percentage of their sales to the girls.
