Opinion: Mendon raises age to buy tobacco – when will Upton?

Mendon has joined a growing list of Massachusetts cities and towns to raise the minimum age to buy tobacco and nicotine products from 18 to 21. Dr. Leicester Hartman presented to the Mendon Board of Heath that nearly ninety percent of  smokers start smoking by the age 20 and ninety percent of people who purchase tobacco for distribution to minors are between the ages of 18 and 20. Scituate raises legal age to purchase smokes to 21

In a unanimous vote, the Scituate Board of Health on Monday night raised the legal age for buying cigarettes, tobacco products and nicotine delivery devices from the state minimum of 18 to 21, effective May 1.  Scituate is just one of the growing number of towns to join in the effort  to crack down on teen smoking. Upton Dancers to Dance in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

This coming Saturday 18 girls from Diane's School of Dance will board a bus and head off to New York City for a once in a lifetime experience - dancing in the 87th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The girls will be performing with the Spirit of America Dancers which is made up of elite dancers from across the country.
