Senator Michael Moore serves Edna and Pauline

On Friday November 15 Senator Moore and his staff made a much-anticipated stop to the Upton Senior Center. What was everyone excited about? Turkey. The Senator made his annual trip to the Center to serve up a delicious turkey dinner complete with potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, bread rolls, and dessert to approximately 55 Seniors. Senator Moore was a very attentive server making sure all special requests were filled.

After everyone was served the Senator took a moment to say hello. “It’s nice to see everyone again,” he said to the crowd. One woman shouted back to him, “We like you!” He thanked the Seniors for coming. Senator Moore told the Seniors, “The staff at this center is great. Holly does a great job for you. She calls our office when you need help.” The Senator said he deals with many senior centers and Upton has one of the best.

Senator Moore was well received by the Upton Seniors. At the table I visited all the ladies agreed, Senator Moore is very nice, provides a good meal, and is awfully cute.

During the dinner I met several lovely women who were living in the Millhaus Apartments . Two of the ladies used to work in the building when it was the Knowlton Hat Factory. Edna and Pauline started working in the factory when the were 17 years old. They both said, “We used to work here and now we live here.”

When the group was asked if they had any specific issues they would be discussing with the Senator they said no.

It was a lovely luncheon. After the Senator was done serving he mingled with the seniors.

The luncheon was sponsored by Senator Moore’s office and the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce.
