At the October 20, 2014 Mendon Upton School Committee meeting Nipmuc Principal John Clements presented the 2014 SAT results.
Clements reported the total mean SAT score for Nipmuc was 1589 out of 2400 beating the state and national numbers. The state came in at 1528 and the national number was 1497. “Nipmuc comes in healthily above national averages,” said Clements. “We are proud of these numbers,” he said.
Nipmuc saw improvements in all tests scores in 2014. The largest increase was in math jumping from 511 in 2013 to 536 in 2014. Reading went form 523 in 2013 to 535 in 2014 and writing from 500 to 518. Mr. Clements SAT slide presentation
Clements said, “It’s the AP culture. Kids are working harder and taking more rigorous courses.” He also feels the change in the schedule framework might be adding to the improvement in scores. “They can now take a 7th class due to the schedule change… now all freshman and sophomore take an extra half credit class in core areas..you see the benefit in the upper classes,” he said.
