Upton Police are reporting on Saturday, March 28 at 3:40 p.m. police and fire responded to a two vehicle crash at 44 Milford Street, Upton with multiple injuries.
Police Chief Michael Bradley wrote in a press release, “The preliminary investigation revealed that Thomas Burns, 41 years of age Milford, was operating a 2007 Toyota Sequoia traveling south on Milford Street. Burns vehicle crossed the center line striking a 2011 Ford Escape operated by Jess Freitas, 31 years of age of Upton. Burns was placed under arrest for operating under the influence of liquor and was transported to UMass Medical Center. Freitas, a female passenger, and two minor children were transported to UMass Medical Center”
Chief Bradley reports the female passenger sustained serious injuries and was extricated from the vehicle using the jaws of life.
The crash remains under investigation by the Upton Police Department and Investigators from Central Massachusetts Laws Enforcement Council Collision Reconstruction Team.
Upton Police and Fire were assisted by Hopedale Fire and Milford Police.
