Records Set at the 5th Annual Run For Their Future 5k and Kids Fun Runs

start of 5k

Start line at 5th Annual Run for their Future

A record number of people came out to run this year’s Run For Their Future 5K.  There was a 5K field of 90 runners as well as approximately 30 children for the fun run.  The 5K (3.1 mile) race winners were Paul Reilly of Northbridge for the males with a course record time of 16:07 and local favorite, Kate Carroll of Upton for the females coming within three seconds of breaking her own course record at 21:46.

The races, put together by the Mendon-Upton Regional Teachers Association, raise money for college scholarships.  The Mendon-Upton teachers would like to thank all the runners that participated in each of the races and would also like to thank all of the sponsors as well.  Without the support of our race sponsors, the race wouldn’t be as nearly successful.  Thank you to the following:  Imperial Ford, The Milford National Bank and Trust Company, Russo Insurance Agency, Sutton Animal Hospital, Town Line Dairy Farm, Bright Insurance Agency, George Summers Trucking, Murphy Insurance Agency, Paul M. Phipps Insurance Agency, PR Running, Red Rock Grill & Bar and Southwick’s Zoo.  Between our racers and sponsors, we will be able to give out a record amount of scholarship money this year.

Finally, we would like to thank the Town of Upton, the Upton Police Department and the Upton Fire and EMS Department for their reliable help and support on race day as well.
