BASIC RIGHTS IN SPECIAL EDUCATION

imagesThe Special Education Parent Advisory Councils (SEPAC) of Northbridge, Douglas, Hopedale, Blackstone-Millville Regional, Mendon-Upton, and Milford are co-hosting a Basic Rights in Special Education presentation.  The presentation will take place on Thursday, November 12th, 2015 at Northbridge High School Media Center, Second Floor, 427 Linwood Avenue, Whitinsville, MA from 7 – 9 p.m.

The Basic Rights workshop provides families with an introduction to their rights and responsibilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Massachusetts Special Education Law.  This workshop is designed to help parents learn to be effective partners with their child’s school, to decide their child’s eligibility for special education, and to plan and make decisions and monitor their child’s progress in school.

Elaine Rabbitt from the Federation for Children with Special Needs will conduct this workshop.  Federation workshops are free and open to the public.  You are welcome to attend any workshop in or outside of your immediate community.  For more information about the Federation for Children with Special Needs go to fcsn.org.

For more information on this free parent workshop, please contact Kathy Lyons at KathyL1@verizon.net or at (508) 234-6224.
