On Tuesday, October 27, 2015, the Upton Bloomer Girls along with Mike Campbell, owner of the Rose Garden in Upton, hosted their very first haunted trail behind the Rose Garden.
Bloomer Girl Ida Jette said the idea came together rather quickly. According to Ida, Mike decided at the last-minute to put together a trail and wanted to donate all the proceeds to the Bloomer Girls. Ida said the Bloomer Girls were delighted when they heard and jumped right in to lend a hand. The event turned out to be a huge success. Although they don’t have an exact head count it’s estimated at least 1000 people maybe more came out for a hauntingly good time.
Thrill seekers were grouped together to walk the frightening trail filled with skeletons, spiders, chainsaw massacrists, and ghosts. Those who were looking for a not so scary hike were given a different guide who provided a family-friendly spooktacular walk through the trail. The trail was open from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Throughout the year, the Upton Bloomer Girls provides assistance in a variety of areas. Activities include gifts to overseas servicemen, scholarships to college-bound seniors, and gift cards and groceries for families during the Holidays and throughout the year. Donations are always welcome and may be sent to: The Bloomer Girls, P.O. Box 121, Upton MA 01568.
