An especially lethal batch of heroin is believed to have caused multiple deaths in Western Massachusetts in the last five days, and Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. issued a warning today about heroin packaged with the label “Hollywood.”
Police in Chicopee and Holyoke as well as the Hampden County District Attorney’s office alerted the public this weekend after police responded to overdoses and found bags of heroin with the “Hollywood” label.
“If we’re seeing such a deadly batch of heroin so close, I’m concerned that we will see these drugs in our county,” Mr. Early said. “All heroin is deadly, but this is extremely dangerous.”
Mr. Early reminded the public of the Good Samaritan Law, which allows witnesses of an overdose to call police and not risk being charged with possession of illegal drugs.
