It’s that time of year again; time for Upton sidewalks, stop bars, and parking lot lines to get a fresh coat of paint.
Upton Town Manager Blythe Robinson said most sidewalks in town will be touched up soon. “This type of work is often done once street sweeping is done in the Spring and when the weather is warmer as cold weather affects paint application,” she said.
The Town maintains all crosswalks on town roads, unfortunately, Route 140 is not a town road and is maintained by the state.
Some of the crosswalks on Route 140 need a fresh coat of paint and better signage, for example the crosswalk at the intersection of Route 140 and Brooks Street. Blythe will be working with the state to address these issues.
The crosswalks at the intersection of Route 140/ Maple Ave/Harford will be updated in 2019 as part of the TIPS program. The state will be putting in new ramps and signals. The TIPS project also includes updating the crosswalk on Hartford Ave near the Bank of America ATM.
