Upton Resident Abbie Sheehan is participating in the Best Buddies Challenge.
Best Buddies is the world’s largest nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of the 200 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
“I have loved working and connecting with special needs kids my whole life,” Abbie said.
Abbie is a Special Education Major at Wheelock College and a member of their Best Buddies Club. “This means so much to me. This is an amazing organization that helps so many special needs youth and adults feel like they are a part of something, and helps them to see the amazing people that they are.”
Giving a little something extra of herself to those who would benefit from it is nothing new to Abbie, she has been working and connecting with special needs kids her entire life. “I remember being told in Elementary school that I was helping too much with special needs kids,” she said.
Abbie was also actively involved with “Teens Night Out’ at Nipmuc Regional High School where she spent her Friday Nights hanging out with some of her best buddies.
