BVT Friends of Rachel Club Announces Car-Wash Fundraisers

free-car-wash-iconArea residents are encouraged to get their cars squeaky clean and help raise funds for a good cause during the upcoming Blackstone Valley Tech Friends of Rachel car-wash events.

The Friends of Rachel Club will hold its first car wash on Saturday, May 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the All Phase Glass Corporation on Cross Street in South Grafton. The second car wash will take place on June 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Upton VFW Post 5594, 15 Milford St. in Upton.

There is no charge for the car wash, but monetary donations of any amount will be accepted. Proceeds will help fund travel expenses for 23 BVT students competing in the 2016 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference Championships in Louisville, Kentucky, June 20-24.

The BVT Friends of Rachel Club was formed following a Rachel’s Challenge program presentation made during the 2010-11 school year. The program is named after Rachel Scott, who was the first person killed during the horrific massacre at Columbine High School in 1999. Her acts of kindness and compassion coupled with the contents of her personal diaries have become the foundation for the life-changing program which has had a profound effect on Valley Tech students. The Friends of Rachel Club formed as a means for the students to perpetuate the program’s positive message by practicing random acts of kindness.
