This past weekend the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions (MTOC) was held at the Mass Youth Soccer facility in Lancaster Massachusetts where the best of the best town soccer teams from across Mass battled for the Championship. Teams ranged in age from 11 to 18 years old.

The Mendon-Upton Youth Soccer Association (MUYSA) had one team qualify for MTOC, a U12 Girls Division 1 team.

The U12 Girls team coached by Craig Grant, Dennis Ceruti, Bob Flanagan, and Steen Christensen, played in three qualifying games over Friday and Saturday to make the Final Four status and compete on Sunday in the semifinal Championship games.

After two 30 minute halves and 10 minutes of overtime play the semifinal game ended in a 0-0 tie forcing Penalty Kicks to decide the game.  The girls made all 5 of their penalty kicks while their opponents missed one, advancing them to the Championship game.

Overtime loomed again for Mendon-Upton U12. The Championship game ended in a 0-0 tie. Penalty Kicks would decide the state champion.

The girls won the championship game in riveting fashion by making all five of their Penalty Kicks while their opponents missed one.

Winning the championship game crowned the Mendon-Upton team the Massachusetts U12 Girls Division 1 champions!

MUYSA is proud to share the accomplishments of this team. The girls on MUYSA U12 Division 1 have been in the program since they were five years old.
