The New England Revolution honored Officer Matthew Rankins from the Upton Police Department as the Hero of the Match at the team’s home game on July 23, 2016 against Chicago Fire Soccer Club.
During the Rev’s pregame ceremony, Officer Rankins was recognized for quickly awakening and saving a family from their home which was on fire. Rankins noticed flames emerging from the garage while out on patrol.
The Revs’ Hero of the Match program honors a local first responder, member of the armed forces or individual making a difference in the community at each home game during the 2016 season.
