The Mendon-Upton Regional School District before and after school care programs are maxed out with waiting lists.
“For some reason this year we have an unprecedented number of requests for both the before school and after school care programs, both at Miscoe and Memorial,” said district superintendent Joseph P. Maruszczak. “Both programs are maxed out.”
“As a result, we have ten families on a wait list for the morning program and fifteen for the afternoon program,” said Maruszczak.
The district is trying to look at some creative solutions; possibly at Clough since the majority of the morning requests are from Mendon families.
“One of our big considerations is finding appropriate space and also staffing,” Maruszczak said. The district has placed ads in the Milford Daily News, the Milford and Mendon-Upton Town Crier and several online sites.
“Finding somebody to work a block of two to three hours in the morning is a real challenge,” said Maruszczak.
