Letter: Tip O’Neill Democrat stands behind Muradian by Jim Gallagher

Dear Mr. Editor,
We have an opportunity in next month’s election to continue the personal touch that we have enjoyed from George Peterson over the years.  David Muradian has been the cornerstone in this neighborhood representation.  I am an old time Tip O’Neill Democrat.  As much as I believe in my party I also believe in the two party system.  Without diverse representation we will never have the discussions about issues important to me.  I need to have a full time representative who will lobby for a discussion on things like a work for welfare program, a sales tax that the majority of the citizens of the Commonwealth voted to roll-back, (as a reminder the one party system merely voted another increase after the citizen’s initiate took effect), full funding for any program mandated by the Commonwealth, and a full accountability for any representative who votes for a tax increase not an automatic increase where no responsibility is determined.
I heard it said that it was time for a change and I just scratched my head.  I fail to see how increasing a veto proof House can be seen as a change.
I support Dave Muradian because he can continue to represent this district on day one because he has been working in concert with George Peterson for seven years.  It is long overdue that this House needs to listen to the people and represent their interests and not the interest of a one party system.  Each week when I read how our representatives voted on different issues I find myself looking at George’s vote and saying to myself that I would have voted the same way.  The economy of this state is in a hole and we all know rule one – if you’re in a hole stop digging.  Let’s elect David Muradian and begin to work our way to a meaningful dialog in this Commonwealth.
