Donald G. Richards, 63

Donald RichardsDonald G. Richards, 63, of Upton, died Tuesday evening, April 19, 2016 in Milford Regional Medical Center after he was stricken ill at home. He was the husband of Annette E. (Saucier) Richards and had been the director of engineering for Milford Manufacturing Corp. for several years.

Don was born in Milford, a son of the late Donald L. and Jayne Richards. He was a graduate of Milford High School and proudly served as an avionics technician with the U. S. Marine Corps from 1971 to 1975. A graduate of Sylvania Technical Institute, he was one of the start-up technicians at Apple Computer before the company moved its headquarters from Massachusetts, and had been an Upton resident for 40 years. He collected WWII model airplanes and loved to read books.

In addition to his wife of 38 years, he leaves two daughters, Catherine and Meghan Richards, both of Upton; and his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Marie and Joe McMahon of Upton, Suzanne and William Irons of Mendon, and Stephen and Kay Saucier of Woonsocket, RI.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, April 22, at 10 a.m. in St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 151 Mendon St., Upton. Burial with military honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. At his request, there are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Marines Toys for Tots Program at http://www.toysfortots.org , or to the Upton Fire & EMS Association, Box 580, or the Upton Police Association, Box 828, both Upton 01568.
